Twenty-two million people died as a result of these disasters. $65 billion in economic damage was reported.
This is an area where UNOPS works closely with many partners, to enable evidence-based infrastructure planning, supporting them to take action.
UNOPS is the implementing arm of the UN and we are proud to be a partner in the realization of projects funded by India.

Conclusion In closing, I firmly believe that our annual report demonstrates UNOPS great potential. We remain committed to doing our utmost to achieve the SDGs. We are always keen to go further, to do more.
UNOPS has also made great progress in mainstreaming gender in projects, but we need to step up our efforts to help close this gap. Inclusiveness goes beyond gender.
And being demand-driven does not mean that we accept all the demands. Our mandate requires us to deliver projects across a wide set of areas and in highly fragile contexts.
