Hosted partnerships are multi-stakeholder initiatives that UNOPS supports by providing a legal and operational platform. UNOPS handles the operational aspects – including through HR, finance, procurement, legal services – while the initiative retains full strategic independence, led by its own board.
Our role is simple but powerful: implementation. We help partners turn ideas and funding into results that improve lives. We provide an operational backbone that enables multilateral action to happen.We work with a variety of partners, from the UN family to governments, non-governmental organizations, academia and the private sector. Our partners call on us to supplement their own capacities, improve efficiency and transparency, reduce risks, boost cost-effectiveness and ensure quality.
Public-private partnerships can help reduce poverty by supporting economic development for women living in rural communities – helping empower women and promoting cultural heritage and economic resilience.
This means clearly defined roles by all involved. Collaborative governance and management processes achieve more than simply coordinating the partners involved. By working together, sharing knowledge, good practice and expertise, the EIB and UNOPS can catalyse further involvement in projects and enhance their credibility, for the benefit of populations that need it most.
Hosted by UNOPS, The Defeat-NCD Partnership includes governments, multilateral agencies, civil society, academia, philanthropic foundations and the private sector, and will focus on four areas: Helping governments to strengthen key national institutions and develop practical plans of action Boosting NCD service provision through community action and the strengthening of health systems Expanding affordable provision of essential NCD medicines, diagnostics and technologies through an innovative marketplace Mobilising additional financial assistance and investment to sustain the long-term services required for these chronic, often life-long, conditions The Defeat-NCD Partnership was officially launched today at a side event of the 73rd UN General Assembly in New York, sponsored and hosted by the Government of Denmark, the Government of Tanzania and UNOPS.
