To ensure inclusive and equitable education as well as decent work for all, we must remove the barriers that keep women and girls – half the world's population – from accessing opportunities. In order to participate equally in political, social and economic life, women and girls need mobility.
It focuses on building a sustainable future where all people – regardless of their gender, race, age or other characteristic – have the opportunity to progress, improve their current quality of life and expand their autonomy,” said Mónica Siles, Director of UNOPS Multi-Country Office in Peru.

The lens of gender equality has rarely been – or is sometimes insufficiently – applied to sectors such as procurement. But procurement initiatives represent several billion dollars a year worth of business worldwide and form a part of every major institution – public and private.
It marks the next step in the organization's journey to becoming truly inclusive, with a diverse workforce, in which everyone feels like they belong. Greater inclusion and meaningful participation requires recognizing and acknowledging the benefits of diversity and removing any barriers that prevent people – and societies – from achieving their full potential. For UNOPS, equitable representation brings value to all our people as well as the work we do with communities around the world.
Women are losing precarious livelihoods faster in the economic fallout. Violence against women and girls has intensified since the outbreak. COVID-19 has exposed the fragility of our gains towards gender equality. It is a wake-up call.
